Why Epoxy?
Epoxy flooring systems creates a seamless, durable, chemically-resistant surface that outperforms traditional concrete. From garages to warehouses to commercial kitchens, epoxy coatings deliver:
A long lasting, protective finish
Resistance to stains, oils and moisture
Easy-to-clean, low maintenance surfaces
Custom colors, textures and finishes
If you’re looking for longevity, safety, and beauty — epoxy is the way to go.

What is epoxy flooring?
Epoxy flooring is a durable, seamless surface created by applying layers of epoxy resin and hardener onto concrete. When these components chemically bond, they form a strong, protective coating that adheres tightly to the concrete underneath. The result is a smooth, long-lasting floor that resists stains, chemicals, moisture, impact, and heavy traffic.
Epoxy flooring is popular in garages, warehouses, retail stores, commercial facilities, patios, driveways, and even interior living spaces because it offers both strength and visual appeal. It can be customized with colors, flakes, quartz, metallic effects, or slip-resistant textures, making it one of the most versatile and reliable flooring systems available.

Why choose epoxy over plain concrete?
Epoxy offers major advantages that plain concrete simply can’t match. While concrete alone is porous, prone to dusting, and vulnerable to stains, moisture, and cracking, epoxy creates a protective barrier that dramatically improves performance and appearance.
Epoxy is the better choice because it:
Creates a seamless, non-porous surface that’s easy to clean and won’t trap dirt or dust
Resists stains, oils, chemicals, and moisture far better than bare concrete
Strengthens and protects the concrete underneath, reducing wear and extending its lifespan
Withstands heavy traffic, impact, and daily use without breaking down
Offers customizable design options including flakes, quartz, metallic effects, and solid colors
Provides optional slip resistance for safer floors in wet or high-traffic areas
Delivers a polished, professional appearance that elevates any space

How long does an epoxy coating last?
A professionally installed epoxy coating typically lasts 10 to 20 years — and often even longer — depending on the environment and how the floor is used. In residential settings like garages or patios, epoxy can last decades with minimal maintenance. In high-traffic commercial or industrial environments, lifespan varies based on foot traffic, equipment, chemical exposure, and overall wear.
What matters most is the quality of the materials, proper surface preparation, and skilled installation. When applied correctly, epoxy forms a strong, protective layer that bonds to the concrete and delivers long-term durability, gloss retention, and resistance to stains, moisture, and abrasion.
With routine cleaning and proper care, your epoxy floor can maintain its performance and appearance for many years.

Do I need to hire a licensed epoxy flooring installer?
Hiring a professional epoxy flooring installer is highly recommended — especially in Florida, where there have been recent changes to licensing requirements. The State of Florida no longer requires a painter’s license, which epoxy installers were previously classified under. Because of this change, many individuals now advertise epoxy installation services without having any formal training, experience, or background in proper concrete preparation.
At Stirling Designs, we held a license when it was required, and we continue to operate with the same level of professionalism, training, and industry standards that licensing once ensured. Even though the state no longer mandates a painter/epoxy license, we uphold those higher expectations because quality and safety matter.
Hiring a trained and experienced installer ensures:
Proper surface preparation (grinding, crack repair, moisture control)
Correct mixing ratios and application techniques
Use of commercial-grade epoxy products, not DIY kits
Knowledge of Florida’s climate and how materials react
A durable system that won’t peel, bubble, or fail
Accountability, professionalism, and high-quality workmanship
While DIY kits or untrained installers may seem cheaper upfront, improper epoxy application leads to costly failures and do-overs.
Bottom line: Even though Florida no longer requires a painter’s license, hiring an experienced epoxy flooring professional is still essential for long-lasting, high-performance results. Stirling Designs continues to uphold the same standards and practices we maintained when licensing was mandatory — ensuring you receive a floor that’s built to last.
